One quote that i found in the communications guide that I thought related to Boyers idea of an enriched major was in the learning outcomes when it stated “The program goals of the Bachelor of Arts in Communications are strongly focused on providing our students with the oral, written,technical and critical thinking skills that are necessary for them to function effectively in the professional world and their personal lives”. I believe this relates to the idea in the enriched major that we are supposed to be able to put our field of study in perspective. If the major really does give us all the skills listed above then I believe that you can then use those abilities to put your major into perspective.

A quote that I found in the communications guide that relates to Boyer’s idea of professionalism/Vocationalism is the first sentence in the mission statement “the mission is to provide exceptional and supportive faculty and to offer relevant curricula that will help prepare students to thrive in an ever changing world. More specifically, the degree strives to (help students achieve their personal and career goals)”. If this doesn’t represent Vocationalism I don’t know what does. Clearly the goal is to help us get to a point in our life where he can say with 100% certainty that we love our job. All the points made in the mission statement clearly back up that point.
