Voicemail Remix

Voicemail Remix

For this podcast I decided to use a voicemail that I had received back in august from Comcast saying that all xfinity customers were able to get a 50% discount that “expires today” then it gave a # to call back if you wanted the discount and thank the listeners. This voicemail sounds too good to be true and it sounds like a scam and it probably was. The world will never know. For this assignment I had a hard time choosing what voicemail to pick. Most of the voicemails that I have are from callers like that or my mom talking about personal things. It was helpful to have some examples to go off of. Also for this assignment I didn’t have a lot of time to edit so I had to use one of my late turn ins for this. I wanted to take a different approach and I wanted the voicemail to sound all distorted and messed up so it was fun playing around in a garage band trying to see what effects I could use to get the desired sounds. I found an effect that made the voicemail sound really echoy which I really liked I also found several other effects which made the voicemail sound like an alien or a monster which I was tempted to use but I felt like it distorted the voice to much to the point that you couldn’t tell at all what it was saying. Also I cut up the audio and then copied and pasted certain pieces of it so they would repeat like in the beginning it goes “hi there, hi there, hi there” and then when the voicemail gives a # to call back I have it repeat the #’s after every three. To add an extra distorted element I used sound effects from Artllist.io in the beginning after the repeating “hi there” I put in the sound of a tape rewinding and in several other parts I used a sound effect that was called phone static.
