Journal Four:
Journal #4:
For Journal #4: Return to the in-class work we did on Day 1 and expand as needed or as would be interesting. An additional project to come to terms with perhaps? Look back over your past humanities courses (see that list from week 1-2) and assignments and identify at least one each of the following, making sure to have more than one past project to discuss:
Most memorable work(s) you encountered:
- Rachel Carson Wildlife Preserve (Podcast into a Documentary)
- Bullfrog Battle Royal video
- Maine Big Night short video
- My article about the controversy the new UNE research pier caused in the community
- When we followed the newspapers of different colleges, I chose UCLA and focused mainly on their articles about the film community that they have on campus.
- My final essay for my Future of humanity class where I talked about aliens and an AI taking over in the future.
Questions you still think about?:
My article about the UNE pier got shut down by higher ups. I understand that the University only wants students to talk about UNE in a positive light but this research pier was causing some serious concerns not just with the local community of Biddeford but with the students as well. This was supposed to be a semester-long project that I would come back to and add to each week instead I was told to pick another topic. To me this was highly discouraging and just reinforced my feeling that the university knows that what they are doing is wrong. I wonder what other information I would have found out if I would have been allowed to continue the project.
A sample of your work you’re most proud of:
A sample of my work that I am proud of is my Rachel Carson Podcast. I did a lot of research so I could be knowledgeable about what I was talking about and I had fun making it and working hard on the edit.
A sample of your work you wish you could do over (or know you would do differently):
A sample of my work that I know I could do better would have to be the Bullfrog Battle Royal. I dragged it out way too long. I think this should be more like a 30 second video and not a minute and 30 or however long it is.
