internship evidence #2
One project that really stood out was helping prepare for a ‘Tunesday’ session a music-based shoot designed to feature local talent in a studio performance setting. We started with the basics blackout curtains, backdrop positioning, and practical lights like string bulbs or LED accents that gave the room a low-key stage feel. Then we layered in key lights and backlights to shape the performer’s figure. I helped set up C-stands, balance softboxes, and test different lighting ratios. Every tweak had a purpose: soften the shadows, isolate the subject, or separate them from the background.I realized how every part of the setup influences the final image. It wasn’t just about making things look good to the naked eye, it was about how it looked through the lens. We would make changes, check the monitor, and adjust again. And sometimes, we’d discover that something looked great in person but totally different on camera. That was a big moment of growth for me understanding that production design isn’t just a physical process; it’s visual strategy.
