Cover Letter

Cover Letter

Journal #11:

This project went very smoothly for me and was pretty straightforward right from the start. Even though I have had no experience with cover letters prior to this, I believe reading the chapter in the book made it very clear what I was supposed to do in my cover letter and how I was supposed to do it. I referred back to the text several times while I was drafting my Cover letter. I also think this project was helpful for practicing the AIDA approach. It’s one thing to read the strategy in a text book and another to actually use it in your writing. I also thought the peer review was really helpful because it was nice to know where other people thought sounded good and where there was room for improvement. I also enjoyed seeing how different everyone’s cover letter was and how it really reflected them. Once I was done with my cover letter I also referred back to the Cover letter rubric as a checklist and that was extremely helpful. Moving forward I will definitely include a cover letter from now on when I’m turning in a resume which will automatically put me above the other candidates because I don’t think a lot of my peers know what a cover letter is to be honest. Now I will know all the tips and tricks of a cover letter that can help me to stand out amongst the crowd and ultimately make all the difference in me getting the job of my dreams or just something to pay the bills.
